Game Tips for League Play
- Please be on time. There are seven other people waiting for you to start the game.
- If you cannot make a game, call your skip as soon as possible and attempt to get a spare.
- Start the game with a handshake and good wishes for the game. The game should end on the same polite note.
- The lead and second of the non-shooting team should always position themselves far to the side between the hog lines, and remain still while the other team is shooting.
- Be positioned in the hack and have your rock cleaned and in place as soon as possible after your opponent has delivered their rock.
- Only the skip and third should stand behind the house when the other team is shooting. They should remain quiet and still while the shooting team throws their stones.
- Leads and seconds should prepare the third and skips stones. Doing so can reduce game times by up to 5 minutes per team.
- Skips should keep the game going by minimizing delay in making decisions. Lengthly conferences should be avoided.
- Winners buy! Losing team must clean the ice, sweep and place covers over hacks, and take down numbers from scoreboard.
- Remember, good sportsmanship is the mainstay of the sport of curling.
